Mother's Day Wreath | The Living With Style Blog Hop | www.scrutinizinglife.com

Welcome to our April Blog Hop!

This month we are focusing on Mother’s Day! Get ready for some great ideas, inspiration and how to as you move along through the blog hop.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Lisa Milligan at Harmony and Happiness on our Living with Style Blog Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you make sure to see and learn from all of the articles featured here today.

For today’s Mother’s Day inspired blog hop I have selected one of my favorite DIY Wreaths. The “cut the squares with pinking shears” wreath my sister and I used to make years ago…. for every holiday imaginable I might add!  It had been so long since I made one {20+ years!} I had to find out the details for the supplies from her!  It is very easy to make and so pretty when finished.

A MOTHER’S DAY FABRIC WREATH {aka The “Cut The Squares With Pinking Shears” Wreath}

Supplies:

  • 4-5 coordinating fabrics (4 colors = 3/4 yard of each color, 5 colors= 1/2 yard of each color)
  • 13″ straw wreath wrapped in plastic wrap
  • Pinking shears to cut fabric into 4″ squares
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Wire for hanging

Cut the fabric into 4″ squares (cut around all edges with the pinking shears) keeping colors separate.

Wrap the wire around the wreath for hanging.  Using the screwdriver, place the tip in the middle of the fabric square and insert it into the wreath about 3/4″.

Continue inserting alternating colored squares around entire front, sides and center of wreath using all the squares.  Leave the back free of fabric squares so it will sit flush against the door.

Hang and enjoy!

    • Thank you Jamie! I had forgotten about this craft from years ago and now that I have resurrected it from the past, my door will always have a wreath!!

  1. Dianne,

This wreath is awesome and so colorful. It bet it would be cute in holiday colors too like greens, reds and golds for Christmas and pastels for Easter. Reds for Valentines….you could literally have a wreath for every holiday and they are so cute….to adapt it a bit more I might add some trinkets like plastic eggs or even a name in wood over the center. Great inspiration piece for us.

    Thanks so much!

    • Thanks Natalie! I really enjoyed making this one! It makes my door “pop”! Next one will be red, white and blue for Memorial Day which I will be able to use numerous times through the year!!
